United Teletech Financial applies game thinking with U-Prosper Reality Fairs—a fun, hands-on way for the community to learn about managing personal finances and the benefits of joining a credit union.
Participants select a career and are given a commensurate salary and a credit score. Next, they visit various stations to purchase things they would need in the real world: housing, car, food, etc. The goal is for the participants to meet all their monthly obligations, while still having some money left over to save for the future.
Participants come away with the following:
• A better understanding of possible future income and debt obligations
• How to spend their money wisely
• How to save for the future
• Complimentary portfolio, booklets, and other financial literacy materials
United Teletech Financial offers these Financial Reality Fairs free of charge to interested high schools, companies, and organizations. Financial Reality Fairs are just one facet of the larger U-Prosper program, which strives to bring financial education and security to everyone in our community.
