United Teletech Financial Privacy Policy & Online Security

General Statement

United Teletech Financial is committed to making available financial products and services that will enable you to meet your financial needs and reach your financial goals. Our reputation is based on the trust placed in us by our members and on our integrity as their financial institution, and we guard that reputation. Protecting your privacy, along with your financial assets, is at the core of our business. We recognize that whether you are an existing member or are considering a relationship with us, you have an interest in how we collect, retain, and use information about you and your relationship with us. We recognize our obligation to keep the information you provide to us secure. Protecting personal information and using it in a manner consistent with your expectations is a high priority for everyone associated with our credit union.

The following statements will assist members in understanding how we collect, use, and protect the personal information provided to us on our Web site. Any questions you have regarding this policy can be addressed to us at (732) 530-8100 or [email protected].

Information We May Collect

United Teletech Financial limits the collection and use of member information to the minimum we require to deliver superior service to our members, which includes advising our members about our products, services and other opportunities, and to administer our business.

The collection of personal information online is designed to protect access to your personal accounts and to assist us in providing you with the products and services you want and need. All personal information we collect and store is used for specific business purposes – to protect and administer your personal accounts and transactions, to comply with state and federal banking regulations, and to help us better understand your financial needs in order to design or improve our products and services.

Our mobile banking app periodically collects, transmits, and uses location data to support features that allow us to communicate with you for various reasons such as closures, marketing, maintenance, and fraud alerts, but only if you expressly authorize collection of such information. You may choose whether location data can be monitored on a continuous basis in the background, only while the app is being used, or not at all. You can change your location permissions at any time in your device settings.

United Teletech Financial will not sell customer information to telemarketing companies. We will share information only when necessary to administer products and services we provide, when required by law, or when we partner with strategic partners to offer a broader array of products and services.

United Teletech Financial will permit only authorized employees, who are trained in the proper handling of customer information, to have access to that information. If any employee violates our Privacy Policy, that person will be subject to disciplinary action.

We will always maintain control over the confidentiality of customer information. We are highly selective in choosing vendors and services companies that assist us in providing quality products and services to our members. We maintain relationships with companies whose products are designed to help us provide services to meet the financial needs of our members. At times, we will provide information to these companies in order to facilitate communication of useful information regarding products or services they provide. Communications members receive from these companies originate with them and they are provided only information necessary to help them provide access to the products by our members. These companies are not permitted to retain any customer information unless the customer has specifically expressed interest in their products or services. Whenever we hire other organizations to provide support services, we will require them to conform to our privacy standards and allow us to audit them for compliance.

For purposes of credit reporting, verification and risk management, we will exchange information about our members with reputable reference sources and clearinghouse services.

United Teletech Financial’s Web site is not set up to distribute personal information about its visitors. We use this information for internal purposes only, which helps us improve the content of our site for your future visits.

You may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example in an e-mail message or by accessing CU@Home Online Banking. We use this information to fulfill or respond to your requests. We may store these requests to provide us with information for future improvements to our Web site. We may forward your e-mail to employees who are better able to respond to your request.

When you send us an e-mail or when you ask us to respond to you by e-mail, we learn your exact e-mail address and any information you have included in the e-mail. We use your e-mail address to acknowledge your comments and/or reply to your questions, and we will store your communication and our reply in case we correspond further. We will not sell your e-mail address to anyone.

Links to Other Sites

United Teletech Financial wants you to be aware that our Web site has links to other Web sites. These sites may collect personal information about you through their Web site. This Privacy Policy does not cover the information practices of those third-party Web sites linked to utfinancial.org.

Online Banking Security

All CU @ Home Online Banking sessions are authenticated by use of your Account Number and PIN, which are required at login. We store no member information on our Web server that is accessed by the public. All account information is housed on computers that are behind our firewall (protected area). The Web server only passes information between your browser and our computers located behind the firewall, and vice-versa. The privacy of the communications between you (your browser) and our servers is ensured using cryptography. Cryptography scrambles messages exchanged between your browser and our online banking server. Encryption happens as follows: When you go to the sign-on page for online banking, your browser establishes a secure session with our server. The secure session is established using a protocol called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Encryption. This protocol requires the exchange of what are called public and private keys. Keys are random numbers chosen for that session and are only known between your browser and our server. After the keys are exchanged, your browser will use the numbers to scramble (encrypt) the messages sent between your browser and our server. Both sides require the keys because they need to de-scramble (decrypt) the messages when they are received. The SSL protocol, not only ensures privacy, but also ensures that no other browser can “impersonate” your browser, nor alter any of the information sent. You can tell whether your browser is in secure mode by looking for the secured lock symbol at the bottom of your browser window.

The numbers used as encryption keys are analogous to combination locks. The strength of encryption is based on the number of possible combinations that a lock can have. As the number of possible combinations grows, it becomes less likely that anyone would be able to guess the combination in order to decrypt the message. Today’s browsers offer 128-bit encryption or 256-bit encryption. Our servers are compatible with both, however we recommend the use of 256-bit capable browsers.
