Loan Deferment FAQ

During this difficult time we want you to know that UTF is here for you. We're your neighbors. We share your worries and want to help you through these challenging times.

If you are experiencing hardship due to COVID-19 and you have a loan with us we are offering deferment of select loans for 2 months. That means you can skip 2 months of loan payments without incurring a fee. Please take a look at the FAQ below to find out how to request deferment, how it works, how long it takes to process and more.

Can I defer my loans during this time?

Yes, you will be able to defer your loans for 2 months and not have to make payments during this time.

What loans can be deferred?

Credit Cards, Auto Loans, Personal Loan, Fixed Home Equity Loans and Lines of Credit

How do I request a deferral?

Please complete the following form and email to opsdept@utcu.org. It will take roughly 10 business days to complete the deferral once we receive the form.

What do I do if I already had a 2 month deferement, but I am still experiencing hardship?

If you already received a 2 month loan deferment, and still are experiencing hardship, we have options avaliable. You may be eligible to make interest only payments through July. To apply for an additional deferment please print and complete this form.

Can I defer my Mortgage?

If you are experiencing hardship due to COVID-19 please call this number for applying for derement on your mortgage, 800.426.7140 option #6. You will need to complete a hardship application and provide proof of hardship.

Can I defer a credit card payment?

Yes, please call 866-820-3933. You can skip up to two months of payments. For more information please call the number listed.

How does a deferment affect my loan?

Your next due date will be pushed two months into the future. The date when the loan matures will also be moved 2 months later. Your monthly payment will stay the same. Interest will still accrue on this loan during the two months. As a result, your last payment amount may be adjusted.

Will this affect my credit score?

No. this will have no impact on your credit score.

Is there a fee?

There is no fee. Your loan will still accrue interest, but there will be no additional charge to skip your next 2 payments.

Who is eligible?

If you are experiencing hardship due to COVID-19 because you were laid off, in quarantine etc. you may be eligible.

When do I have to submit the request?

Please submit the request 10 days before the due date. If your due date is less than 10 days please email opsdept@utcu.org and let them know. They will discuss your options.

What if I have an incoming payment from another institution, will that be stopped automatically?

Yes, as long as you submit your request 10 days before. If you submit later than that we may not be able to stop it. We will work with you to get the amount back if it is charged.
